“For over 30 years, Koen has brought people together through his art, challenging them to reflect and act collectively. What better way to celebrate this than with a beer? A discovery born our of chance, necessity, and curiosity. Simple yet refined. A fusion of nature, science, and culture, but above all, a story of connection.”

— Philip Remans, founder of MOUTH Foundation

A beer that celebrates biocultural diversity, global unity, and local craftsmanship

Inspired by Vanmechelen’s artistic practice, Wild Gene brings together hops from Europe, the Americas, Africa, Asia, and Oceania. Each hop — earthy, fruity, floral, or spicy — adds its own character, creating a rich, complex profile. It is not only an ode to diversity but also to the Wild Gene; the raw, untamed energy that drives every organism.

“Food in my work has always served as a way to bring people together,” says Vanmechelen. “Thanks to Wild Gene, we can collectively celebrate years of building, blending, exploring, and hard work. Here’s to the beauty of the unexpected, and to the resilience that comes from creative thinking.”

THE GLOBAL ONLY EXISTS BY THE GENEROSITY OF THE LOCAL

'Looking for the Ark’ stands as a beacon of reflection in the city of water and wonder, beckoning artists, thinkers, and viewers alike to embark on a journey through art and the very core of what it means to be human. In Venice, a city perpetually on the brink of yesterday and tomorrow, the artworks offers a journey into the soul of humanity - a voyage across the seas of time, consciousness, and collective memory.
